The relative affordability and speed of travelling by air today has made international travel accessible to many people and it has become an integral part of their lifestyle. In view of this, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of firms in the airline industry is an increasingly important topic in the global economy. CSR is a challenge for managers of airlines in today?s risky, competitive and complex business environment. Therefore, there is a need for managers with maturity, competence and knowledge to manage and implement all CSR initiatives. The main objective of this paper is to analysis from literature the impact of Social maturity, managerial competence and knowledge in the management and implementation of CSR initiatives in the airline industry. The paper concludes that the management and implementation of CSR requires manager?s effectiveness in drawing upon a set of skills, knowledge, and attributes to work successfully with relevant stakeholders in the airline industry.
