Among the basic strengthening trends influencing the Czech system of higher education after 1989 belong the increasing number of universities and the offer of subjects of study, the increasing number of graduates, enhancement of the economical dependencyof universities on the Czech and European grants, and advocating of quantitative criteria for evaluation of teachers and lecturers performances as well as of schools in the area of educational and research and grant activities. The article tends to answer the question: how these trends influence the study programs and the quality of education and how they influence employability of university graduates in practice?
