Using Systems Thinking as an Efficient Teaching Tool for Transfer of Creative Innovations
Original language description
Research and development play an important role in the economic and social system of industrialized countries, particularly in the process of transfer technology and innovation development. Universities are a platform that guarantees independent research and freedom of knowledge and they are associated with a high degree of innovations where the authors of new idea concepts are, quite naturally, students. However, the subsequent transfer of creative innovations from universities to practice is connected with considerable difficulties. The aim of this article is to assess the process of design thinking in teaching in art studios at the university and defining issues which accompany the application of creative innovations in the market. The basic research technique is qualitative research, which is prepared and evaluated using Grounded Theory. The research outputs are demonstrated using a case study of creative innovation inspired by environmental issues and presented using the language of systems thinking. The result of this article is an analysis of barriers that prevent completion of a creative innovation and its transfer to practice. Efficient tools with a potential to speed up innovation transfer to practice include user research support at the beginning of the design process.
