The Manifestations of Gifted Children from the Perspective of their Parents
Original language description
The article deals with the problematics of gifted children. It describes the findings of a qualitative research with the aim of desribing particular typical manifestations of children' giftedness from the perspective of their parents. The source of datawas a group interview with eight parents of gifted children who regularly meet within the Gifted Children Parents Club. The interviews were transcribed and the data gained subsequently elaborated using the cluster analysis. On the basis of similarities between identified units seven semantic categories were created. These categories include particular examples and real stories which illustrate specific manifestations of children' giftedness. The research findings present a practical completion of available lists of gifted children typical characteristics.
