Binary polymer systems PLA/PEG for immobilization of bacteriocins
Original language description
The presented work deals with preparation and characterization of binary PLA/PEG films developed for enhanced immobilization of a bacteriocin nisin with potential applicability in medicine. The effect of PEG molecular weight (Mw 400-6000 g/mol) and its concentration (0-20 wt. %) on mechanical, structural and thermal properties as well as degradation behaviour in aqueous environment was studied. The results showed that the increasing PEG presence affected nisin release kinetics and led to enhancement of total nisin amount released from the investigated binary systems. It also influences the antimicrobial properties of the tested systems.
