RheoTack – a new method to investigate the rate dependent viscoelastic release behavior of pressure sensitive adhesives
Original language description
The increasing demands on pressure sensitive adhesives (PSA) related products steadily requires improvement of the adhesive properties. RheoTack provides more relevant information concerning the adhesion and release behavior of a patch with a flexible backing layer and includes a unit for an optical observation. The results of the force distance curve show three tack phases: the first represents the wetting of the probe, the second depicts PSA the cavitation and the fibrillation, and the third posses the entire detaching. Moreover, synchronized recorded pictures from three cameras clearly display decreasing cavity sizes with increasing retraction speeds, and therefore assist to clarify the detaching behavior of TTS.
