Original language description
This work is concerned with retardation of the degradation of historical documents written in iron-gall ink. The objective was an application of neutralization reagent MMMC (Methoxy Magnesium Methyl Carbonate) and antioxidant BHT (2,6-diterbutyl-p-kresol) on documents containing iron-gall inks and to examine its influence on document properties after stabilization. Changes were monitored in the mechanical properties of the paper caused by accelerated ageing by dry hot air (at 105? C) and wet hot air (at80? C and 50% RH). Whatman paper support was modified with gelatine combined with aluminium sulphate.
