The Visitors´ Profile of the Czech Castles and Chateaux
Original language description
To be able to manage and develop tourism and to assess the importance of individual towns, micro-regions and regions, we need an unbiased method for the evaluation of a tourist destination from various points of view. The tools for the evaluation of theinfluence of tourism on a municipality, a micro-region or a region should, in our opinion, include the attractiveness of castles and chateaux (ATO). To determine the ATO, we used results of primary marketing research carried out among visitors to severalcultural destinations in the Czech Republic. We defined the ATO from the average distance between the tourists´ place of residence and the destination, the average number of tourists and visitors per day and the mean number of repetitive visits to castles and chateaux. This paper has confirmed the possibility of using the ATO for complex evaluation of the degree, type and intensity of tourism in the researched cultural facilities.
