    Objective: Theaimofthe study wascomparisonofcancer incidence risk oflungs, stomach, colon, bladder and kidneysfrom ex-minersofblackcoalmines and thegeneral male populationofthe Czech Republic. Materials and Methods: Theanalysiswasconducted in twocohortsof ex-minersaccording to the presence ofcoalworkers' pneumoconiosis (CWP). Thefirstcohortincludedtheminerswithout CWP (N = 6705), and the second cohortincludedtheminerswhowerecompensatedfor CWP (N = 2158). Personal and occupational data wasmergedwiththe data in theNationalPopulationRegister and theNationalOncologicalRegisterforthe period from 1992 to 2006. Cancer risk in miners in comparison to thegeneral male populationofthe Czech Republic wasevaluated by SIR (Standardized Incidence Ratio) and 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: Abouttwice as high risk oflungcancerwasfound in minerswith CWP (SIR = 2.21; 95% CI: 1.75-2.76).
