The paper discusses the growing importance of using the Internet and social networks as rationalization tools for marketing activities of companies and organizations. It points to a change in the use of the Internet, from the era when content was created exclusively by service providers, to the age of Web 2.0, in which content is created by its users. At the same time, it points to the use of new technologies, the growth of which has changed the population's approach to the use of the Internet and social networks. Recognition of these changes by businesses and organizations, as well as their monitoring and adaptation of their activities in the virtual world, is becoming a necessity for businesses and organizations.
