Aluminium fractions in surface waters draining catchments of ICP Integrated Monitoring network

  • Original language description

The International Cooperative Programme - Integrated Monitoring database in Helsinki contains relevant Al fractions data in streamwater from 14 European catchments in 7 countries. The highest potentially toxic inorganic monomeric Al (Ali) values in streamwater were detected in the Czech Republic (Lysina CZ02, median 0.34 mg/L) and Sweden (Gardsjon SE04, median 0.21 mg/L). Median concentrations above toxic limit for benthic macroinvertebrates (>0.1 mg/L) were detected also in streamwater of two Norwegian catchments (Birkenes NO01 and Langtjern NO03).
