Centre and Periphery: Changes in the Postcolonial Situation of Romance-language Literatures in the Americas, Africa and Europe
Anotace anglicky
Romance-language Literatures in the Americas, Africa offer an opportunity to re-examine the postcolonial situation in different regions and cultures and to examine constants and variables of developmental trends. This is due to the variedness of Romance peripheries and centers themselves, some of which are partly semi-peripheral. In creation and critical thinking, these literatures are the source of new theoretical concepts overcoming preceding postcolonial theories. At the same time, a new arrangement of relationships affecting the original European centers is being redistributed in Roman literatures. The analytical comparison of the development of the last three decades in the individual areas (Quebec, Central and South America, Caribbean, Maghreb, Sub-Saharan Africa, former European centers) will lead to the publication of a synthetic monograph in the Czech version, intended to extend the Czech critical thinking conceptually and methodologically, and the English version, that could be a contribution to comparative literature and to further reflections on world literature.
