Robust reduced-order modeling of fluid-structure interaction problems

Anotace anglicky

Advanced technologies in both conventional and green energy (steam and wind turbines) or vehicles (airplanes, high-speed trains) require a high level of simplicity for modelling their behavior already in the early phase of development or the entire production process using virtual models. With today powerful supercomputers, it is possible to simulate the behavior of the needed models with millions or billions of degrees of freedom, but this approach requires considerable computing times and it is inefficient. This disadvantage of detailed numerical models is removed by transformation the original model into a reduced model with considerably lower degrees of freedom, while preserving its dominant properties. In this project, methods of reduced-order modelling in structural dynamics, fluid mechanics and fluid-structure interaction will be studied and developed. We also focus on efficient coupling schemes and algorithms in fluid-structure interaction. The proposed methods of reduced-order modelling will be applied on complex tasks with the main focus on fluid-structure interaction.
