Anotace anglicky

The research is focused on the two most important assemblages of Great Moravian elite jewellery and decorative clothing accessories from the 9th-century central agglomerations in Mikulčice and Staré Město – Uherské Hradiště. The project aims to undertake comprehensive interdisciplinary research including an analytical-conservation study of the above-mentioned artefacts. Within this research approach, the archaeological, culture-historical and technological issues of luxury jewellery production will be examined and compared between the two sites. The analysis results will serve as a basis for further research into jewellery production and distribution in 9th-century Moravia, as well as its role within the supra-regional contacts of Europe. The findings of the analytical-conservation study will be considered when documenting previous conservation interventions on these artefacts and in their new comprehensive restoration and conservation treatment. This will also be used to create an “approved methodology” for working with similar early medieval archaeological artefacts with a high artistic and historical value. A publicly available database of all jewellery items from both sites will be included on the project website. The partial results of the interdisciplinary research will be published in international journals. Within the framework of this project, the audio-visual works with specialised screenplay illustratively presenting the individual phases of research will be created. The project outcomes will be presented to the professional and general public in the form of an exhibition with a critical catalogue.
