New families of special functions of several variables and their properties
Project goals
The main goal of the project in the fields of mathematics and mathematical physics is to create a czech-polish research team which will study new families of special functions and corresponding orthogonal polynomials. The research will focus on open problems in the given field, namely generating functions and orthogonality of associated families of orthogonal polynomials, transformation rules of families of various special functions between each other, comparing of effectivity of interpolation with various families of special functions, reduction (branching) of the families and corresponding polynomials and connection with reduction of representations of simple Lie groups. Each result would be considered with respect to possible application in digitaldata processing, theory of differential equations and in physics.

Studium vlastností nových tříd speciálních funkcí několika proměnných

Cílem projektu v oblasti matematiky a matematické fyziky je vytvoření česko-polského výzkumného týmu, který se bude zabývat vlastnostmi nových rodin speciálních funkcí a přidružených ortogonálních polynomů. Výzkum bude zaměřen na otevřené problémy v danéoblasti, zejména se jedná o generující funkce a ortogonalitu pro přidružené rodiny polynomů, transformace jednotlivých rodin speciálních funkcí a rodin polynomů mezi sebou, porovnání efektivity aproximací pomocí jednotlivých rodin na konkrétních mřížkách, redukce (branching) jednotlivých rodin a polynomů a souvislost s redukcí konečnědimenzionálních reprezentací prostých Lieových grup. Každý jednotlivý výsledek bude studován s přihlédnutím na potenciální aplikaci ve zpracování digitálních dat, v teoriidiferenciálních rovnic a ve fyzice.

This project is being realized in the framework of the MOBILITY Activity that aims primarily on establishing and strenghtening ties with foreign research institutions. The control of particular outputs is not implemented by the evalution committee, but the correctness of allocated finances and the adequacy of their use are checked.
