    The project has investigated an alternative to established satellite based time and frequency methods for phase-coherent comparison of remotely located optical clocks, and new techniques for time transfer using optical fibre links leading to an improvement of clock comparisons at least by one order of magnitude. We developed techniques that enable comparisons of the best optical clocks on a relative uncertainty level of about 1E‑18 at one day integration time. We demonstrated time and frequency transfer and time dissemination using optical fibres used in parallel with Internet data traffic.
