Project name in Czech
Research and Development of Methods for Persistent Organic Polutants (POPs) Elimination
Annotation in Czech
The project is aimed at proposing and verifying an effective technology for treatment of sites contaminated by POPs (HCH isomers, DDT, DDD and DDE). These pesticides can occur together but their parallel treatment carries out with different efficiencies.

Project results evaluation
The pilot verified and patented technology for HCH, DDT and degradation intermediatesdegradation was developed. The ex situ chemical reduction using microscale ZVI (5% w/w) is the most suitable for concentrations above 20 g/kg, for lower concentrations application of molasses(5% v/w), combination with ZVI (1-2%) is possible, and for groudwater in situ chem. reduction as a PRB or reactive zone.
