Enzyme CP: a composition of enzymes as the future of biological crop protection
Project goals
The aim of the consortium is to develop a novel biological enzymatic active ingredient for crop protection applications and to develop the manufacturing technology of this ingredient. It’s the consortium’s goal to demonstrate the ingredient can be (re)produced, that it is effective, stable and affordable and the ingredient can be registered according to EU Regulation 1107/2009.

Project results evaluation
The outcome of the project is the identification of a bacterial strain with the potential of producing metabolites degrading chitin. Those can act as a biopesticide against pests and fungal diseases. The lab-scale technological process was developer, from Cultivation setup to isolation and concentration of the target active molecules. The residual biomass has proven value as a soil biostimulant.
