The project is coordinated by the University Tor Vergata in Rome and other partners in the project consortium are: Katholieken Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Scuola Superiore di Study Universitari e perfezionamento Sant?Anna (Italy), Univerzita Karlova vPraze (Czech Republic), Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri (Italy), Institute on drugs and drug addiction (Portugal). The overall goal of the project is to increase knowledge on the segmentation of the drug market (demand side) according tothe intensity of use (lifestyles) and of the used substances, compilation and analysis of a matrix of different behaviours related to the combinations of users and substances and to produce set of indicators for monitoring actions and policies specificfor each combination. In accordance with functional laws and dynamics of the drug market (supply side) to produce effective global indicators to evaluate actions and policies of supply reduction. The project includes 7 workstreams, which are interconnected: 1. Analysis of consumption and behavioural characteristics of consumers (coordinated by Tor Vergata). 2. Analysis of the supply chain and its criminal enterprises (coordinated by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven). 3. International comparison of the European policies aimed at reducing the demand and harms from drug abuse (coordinated by Portugal-IDT) 4. A compared assessment of European supply-control policies and interventions (coordinated by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) 5. Development of models toestimate consumption and supply of drugs (coordinated by Tor Vergata) 6. Evaluation of the economic impact of illicit drug market (coordinated by Univerzita Karlova v Praze) 7. Development of comprehensive indicators to evaluate policies and programs under health damages and treatments and under crime reduction (coordinated by Tor Vergata)
