Immobilization of Heavy Metals in Municipal Waste Incinerator Materials

  • Annotation in Czech

The combustion of municipal waste is one of ways to meet nowadays the EU requirements to reduction of amount of dumped waste. The municipal solid waste incinerators (MSWI) convert waste to energy and certain amount of solid waste materials ? fly ash andslag. These solid waste materials contain, besides other components, toxic heavy metals which have to be stabilized against leaching out from the waste material before it can be safely stored at a land fill. The MSWI solid waste materials have latent hydraulic or puzzolanic properties. This fact offers an effective way of heavy metals immobilization which will be studied in the present project: the waste materials will be used as partial replacement of portland cement and/or aggregates in cement based composite ? concrete. Optimal way of mixing of MSWI solid waste and portland cement will be sought with respect to the resulting properties of the immobilization product (cement-based composite). Namely, degree of heavy metals immobilization and building

Completed project evaluation

  • Provider evaluation

U - Uspěl podle zadání (s publikovanými či patentovanými výsledky atd.)

  • Project results evaluation

Following the condition that the candidate of financial contribution was evaluated and afterwards selected by international provider in accordance with the rules of the program the Ministry of Education, Youth ans Sports does not realize the evaluation of project results. The project is evaluated only after its approval by an international provider
