Annotation in Czech
The main goal of the project is to create a fundamental study in the field of ethnology and anthropology in order to analyse the dynamic transformations in the social, socio-economic, demographic and cultural spheres in the north-western region of Bulgaria. The joint research project between three countries will develop the potential of Bulgarian anthropology and ethnology and will enrich the scientific field with fresh insight and will put into circulation new ethnological information. At the same time, the undoubtedly interdisciplinary approach and the international team of scholars will increase the visibility of the Bulgarian school of ethnology and anthropology in the European research area. The main objective of the project takes into account the specificities of the region. The project aims to study the way identities form and change within different ethno-confessional groups in modern times. In order to attain this objective, the team will carry out the following separate tasks: 1) Study the boundaries of different communities as a result of contemporary socio-cultural processes; 2) Study the memory sites identified as significant by specific communities; 3) Study the local residents' perceptions of the river as a boundary or communication artery; 4) Conduct research on the monuments of cultural and historical heritage in the context of European influence; 5) Study the perception and knowledge of European influence in urban environments (architecture, interiors, everyday life, social life) through ethnographic methods of work; 6) Study the European influences in the rural environment; 7) Study the hierarchy of identities: European, national, regional, religious, ethnic.
