    Quantile-Based Global Sensitivity Analysis for Structural Reliability of Slender Steel Structures

    The project focuses on advanced reliability analysis of steel structures, emphasizing global sensitivity analysis (GSA), stochastic modelling, and nonlinear behaviours in slender steel structures. The primary topics include stability, load-carrying capacity, geometric and material imperfections, and their influence on reliability. To achieve these goals, novel sensitivity analysis methods will be developed, including quantile-oriented sensitivity indices that provide more accurate analysis of extreme events and critical design quantiles compared to traditional variance-based approaches. These methods will enable a detailed assessment of how imperfections influence structural reliability. Tasks aimed at improving finite element models (FEM) using advanced surrogate modelling techniques will help reduce computational complexity while maintaining high accuracy of model outputs. This research is expected to enhance the current understanding of structural behaviour and introduce new methodologies for evaluating reliability, potentially influencing design codes and engineering practices.
