    Rotating machines are important in many applications, from aerospace propulsion and power generation to high-precision manufacturing. The critical challenges for horizontal rotors are high speeds, variable loads and changing of inertia. Even more problematic under these conditions are vertical rotors with weak reaction forces in the bearings. Traditional supports often struggle to balance high static load capacity with low dynamic stiffness, leading to excessive vibration, instability or high forces transmitted to the support. To address these challenges, a supports based on high-static-low-dynamic stiffness (HSLDS) offer a promising solution. These innovative designs provide exceptional vibration isolation while maintaining sufficient load capacity. The changing dynamic properties and conditions of rotors moreover brings the need for adaptive and real-time controlled versions of HSLDS supports. The supporting HSLDS structures will therefore be investigated as integrated mechatronic devices using a combination of different mechanical structures and active isolation concepts.
