Mechanical and corrosion properties of novel high-strength dual-phase zirconium alloys
Annotation in Czech
Zr alloys, particularly solute-lean variants, are crucial for nuclear fuel cladding due to their low neutron capture cross-section, while Ti alloys are valued for their two-phase α + β structure with high strength. Recently, dual-phase Zr alloys, resembling the α + β Ti alloys, have been developed, exhibiting unique properties, namely high strength and satisfactory ductility. This project aims to investigate the texture evolution, mechanical anisotropy and asymmetry and corrosion resistance of these novel Zr alloys in the form of highly deformed rods and thin-walled tubes. Texture evolution and activation of slip systems depending on the degree, geometry and temperature of deformation will be determined experimentally and compared to modelling by MTEX software. Anisotropy of mechanical properties will be correlated to texture data, advancing the understanding of dual-phase Zr alloys for high-performance applications, particularly in the nuclear industry.
