    Novel approaches to exact black-hole spacetimes, with gravitational waves and dark energy

    Surprising advances concerning exact black hole spacetimes and new definition of gravitational radiation in universe with a cosmological constant (dark energy) appeared recently. The goal of the proposed research is to match together these novel ideas. It will deepen understanding of Einstein’s General Relativity and its possible extensions. In particular, we will focus on explicit exact models of type D black holes, applying their new convenient metric representations, and study their physical properties. One of the key questions is to clarify whether they generate gravitational waves if, and only if, they accelerate. Further generalizations to other types of black holes are expected. Inspired by contemporary high energy physics, we will compare them to their analogues in higher and lower dimensions. Apart from the study of gravitational radiation generated by black holes, we intend to investigate exact gravitational waves of algebraic type N, concentrating of low-regularity issues associated to impulsive waves representing short burst of radiation in the universe with dark energy.
