Unveiling the population of close-in exoplanets and brown dwarf companions to stars

Project goals

The populations of close-in planets and brown dwarfs around intermediate mass stars (F-type and A-type stars) remain relatively unexplored because of their specific characteristics, such as a small number of spectral lines and fast rotation that make radial velocity measurements difficult. However, these systems are crucial to understanding the impact of stellar properties on the formation and evolution of substellar objects. In the proposed project, I seek to learn more about these populations by approaching them in three different ways. (1) By expanding the population of transiting BDs around intermediate mass stars. (2) By using the KESPRINT observing time to bring discoveries of planets around intermediate mass stars. (3) By studying the frequency of substellar objects around Am stars to understand the nature of the Am phenomenon and then discuss the consequences for the population of A-type stars. A synergy between individual parts will allow us to compare different populations and better understand the processes involved in their formation.

Odhalenie populácie blízkych exoplanét a hnedých trpaslíkov v okolí hviezd
