Production of Dendrobium candidum biomass in vitro and study its biological activity
Project goals
The project aims are: a) production of Dendrobium candidum biomass by callus and cell cultures b) assess anti-inflammatory (cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 and 5-lipoxygense inhibition) and anti-oxidative activity (by DPPH and ORAC methods) of callus and cell cultures c) identify compounds produced by callus and cell cultures d) assess possibilities of enhancement of anti-inflammatory and antioxidative compounds in callus and cell cultures e) set up cooperation of scientific groups of China and Czech Republic and experience exchange

Project name in Czech
In vitro produkce biomasy Dendrobium candidum a studium její biologické aktivity
Annotation in Czech
Cíle projektu jsou následující: a) vypěstovat kalusovou a supsenzní kulturu Dendrobium candidum b) u vyprodukované biomasy ověřit protizánětlivou (inhibici cyklooxygenázy-1 a -2 a 5-lipoxygenázy) a antioxidační aktivitu (DPPH a ORAC metoda) c) identifikovat látky které jsou produkovány kalusovými nebo suspenzními kulturami d) ověřit možnosti zvýšení produkce protizánětlivých látek a antioxidantů v kalusových nebo suspenzních kulturách e) vznik vědecké spolupráce a výměny zkušeností mezi pracovišti ČLR aČR Tento projekt představuje, vzhledem ke své omezené délce, jen úvodní krok další spolupráce v této oblasti.

For one of tested stilbenes ? pinosltibene - strong cyklooxygenase-2 (COX-2) a cyklooxygenase-1 (COX-1) with IC50 values lower than reference inhibitors ibuprofen and indomethacin were recorded. Only pterostilben a oxyresveratrol were capable to inhibitcatalytic activity of 5-LOX with mild activity.
