Hlavním cílem projektu ELI Beamlines je vybudování vysoce moderního laserového systému využívajícího poslední dostupné technologie a realizace programu řady projektů základního a aplikovaného výzkumu, jehož podstatou je interakce laseru s hmotou při intenzitách, které jsou o řád vyšší než intenzity dosahované v současnosti. Páteří ELI Beamlines bude velký laserový systém poskytující ultrakrátké světelné pulsy o délce několika femtosekund (10-15 fs). Sekundární zdroje ultrakrátkých a ultraintenzivních pulsů záření a částic umožní široké spektrum projektů základního výzkumu a aplikací v chemii, molekulární biologii, při vývoji nových lékařských technologií, vývoji nových materiálů a dalších.

Project results evaluation
Several globally unique laser systems (L1 Allegra, L3 HAPLS and L4 ATON) were put into operation at the ELI Beamlines center and progress was made in the development of the L2 system. There are 2 X-ray sources and an ion accelerator in the testing phase. Thanks to the considerable progress in completing the ELI Beamlines, it was possible to start operating 4 user stations with 1,200 hours of experimental time for external users as early as 2018. The infrastructure was used to a similar extent in 2019.
