Original language description
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely used to monitortransplanted cells in vivo, allowing a better understanding oftheir interactions and monitoring their fate. The use of a contrastagent is often required to visualise them clearly. Conventional 1HMRI with Gd or iron oxide nanoparticle-based agents provideshigh-resolution imaging but lacks specificity. Fluorine-basedagents for 19F MRI provide a solution to this problem, offeringalmost 100% specific signals. The fluorinated polymers wepresent are being developed as candidates for cell labelling.
