An attempt to characterize some soil and health relevant bacteria by FT-IR spectroscopy

  • Original language description

There has been an increasing concern about health relevant bacteria that could be spread in soil and other environments by application of organic wastes or due to deliberate releases. Therefore a rapid and reliable identification of such potential pathogenic agents and their differentiation from common soil bacteria is required. We attempted to use FT-IR spectroscopy for this purpose. Soil bacteria Arthrobacter oxydans and Azotobacter chroococcum, and facultatively pathogenic bacteria Enterobacter agglomerans and Escherichia coli, all of them delivered well distinguished IR spectra in the following waverange: 3300 cm-1 mainly for nucleic acids structural bases; 3000-2800 cm-1 for cell membrane fatty acids; 1800-1500 cm-1 for saturated esters and cell proteins; 1500 cm-1 for proteins, lipids and phosphoesters; 1200-800 cm-1 for glycopeptides and phosphate groups of nucleic acids constituents. However, if cell mass was harvested in different phases of bacterial growth or bacteria were cu

Možnosti rozlišení půdních bakterií FT-IR spektroskopií

  • Czech description

Půdní bakterie Arthrobacter oxydans and Azotobacter chroococcum a fakultativně patogenní Enterobacter agglomerans a Escherichia coli byly dobře rozlišitelné IR spektry. IR spektra buněčné hmoty rozlišovala A. oxydans a A. chroococcum a také tyto druhy odenterobakterií. Mezi IR spektry E. agglomerans a E.coli nebyly zjištěny rozdíly.
