The importance of Hippophae is in the high biologic value of fruits for direct use and for food and pharmaceutical industry. Hippophae contains high amounts of bioactive compounds such as ascorbic acid, phenolic compounds, tokoferols and tokotrienols and karotenoids. Additional compounds medicinally useful are vitamins, mineráls and bioflavonoids with antioxidative effect.
