Changes in lymphocyte subpopulations and CD3+/DR+ expression in sepsis
Original language description
Septic patients (n=40) when compared with healthy controls (n=34), have significantly lower percentages and absolute numbers of total and CD4 T-lymphocytes. Absolute numbers of CD8 T lymphocytes, NK cells, CD3+/DR+ lymphocytes and CD4/CD8 ratio are alsodecreased during sepsis. This reduction reflects severe stress caused by sepsis, and might also might be a predisposing factor for secondary bacterial complications in critically ill persons.
