Breast tumor tissue analysis of the prediction of disease progression
Original language description
The current status of prognostic factors in primary breast cancer permits an increasingly accurate prediction of prognosis and benefit of therapy. The new possible risk factor of relaps in resectable breast tumor were described recently: selected oncogenand product of their expression, growth factors and its receptors, proteases, factors connected with multidrug resistence, apoptosis, or immortal character of tumors (telomerase). In retrospective study using breast tissue material obtained during 1986 -1996 we analyzed c-erbB-2 oncoprotein tissue concentration in dysplastic tissues, in fibroadenomas, phylloid tumors, and in breast carcinomas and compared the results of the quantitative estimation of this oncoprotein with immunohistochemical loclocalization. In this material we analyzed also CEA, CA 15-3, TPS, and CYFRA 21-1 in tumor cytosol, and telomerase activity in tissue and correlated all results with medical history data and with available histological and biochemical examinatio
