Human MRCK alpha is regulated by cellular iron levels and interferes with transferrin iron uptake

  • Original language description

MRCK alpha is a serine/threonine kinase that can regulate actin/myosin assembly and activity. In article is reported, that MRCKalpha protein expression is regulated by iron levels, MRCKalpha colocalizes with transferrin loaded transferrin receptors and attenuation of MRCKalpha expression leads to a significant decrease in Tf-mediated iron uptake.
