The study aimed to assess cortisol as a biologic and diagnostic marker in patients with acute bacterial meningitis (BM). Cerebrospinal fluid cortisol levels in patients with BM were highly elevated and correlated with disease severity. It may serve as avaluable marker in discriminating bacterial and aseptic meningitis.
