The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a novel alpha-2-adrenoceptor (alpha(2)-AR) agonist, naphthylmedetomidine, on cardiorespiratory function and sedation in rabbits in comparison with medetomidine.

Účinek nového alfa-2 adrenergního agonisty naftylmedetomidinu na hemodynamické parametry a sedaci u králíků.
Czech description
Cílem této studie bylo zjistit vliv naftylmedetomidinu na kardiorespirační parametry a sedaci u králíků a porovnat ji s běžně užívaným medetomidinem. V této studii bylo použito 42 králíků (chinchilla) a tito byli ve dvou paraelních skupinách léčeni medetomidinem či naftylmedetomidinem (350 mikrog/kg i.m. pro obě léčby). Medetomidin, na rozdíl od naftylmedetomidinu významně snižoval tepovou frekvenci, krevní tlak i saturaci hemoglobinu kyslíkem. Dále sedace po použití medetomidinu byla hlubší. Tyto výsledky potvrdily výhodnější profil naftylmedetomidinu ve srovnání s medetomidinem při imobilizaci malých savců ve veterinární praxi.
