Histology of abdominal incisions in rabbit - in vivo experiment with incorporation of artificial meshes
Original language description
Our aim was to analyze the tissue reaction to incorporation of artificial tissue-engineered mesh (PCL nanofibres) in rabbit after 6 weeks of regeneration. From histological point of view, the incision supported with scaffolds formed a more regularly arranged wound with more type I collagen than the incisions healing spontaneously without the scaffold support. The scaffolds were well integrated with the granular and dense connective tissue. The inflammatory cells found adjacent to the scaffolds formed nofoci weakening the wall. The scaffolds probably affected also formation of blood vessels in the adjacent region without incision, which resulted in a greater fraction of myofibroblasts in aminals with scaffolds when compared to animals without scaffolds.
