This paper describes the interim results of a research study conducted in the 2023/2024 school year to determine whether a financial literacy seminar develops students' conceptual understanding of certain financial literacy concepts. Concepts examined include inflation, a loan, and budgeting. The seminar was newly designed for this study and involves 17 students (5 boys, 12 girls) in their first year of secondary school (combined lyceum), aged 15-16. The seminar was piloted in a previous school year with a previous first-year class. The seminar was designed in accordance with the current financial literacy standards of the Czech Republic and focused on developing conceptual knowledge of financial literacy. A pre-test in the form of a concept test was developed for the fall of 2023. It was first piloted and then realized. Some tasks from the test will be shown in the paper. The test was prepared in accordance with the results of a questionnaire for experts (financial mathematicians, economists, mathematics didactics and experienced primary, secondary and university teachers), from which key concepts of financial literacy emerged. The paper will present both the design of the pre-test itself and the students' responses. These will then be discussed. This study is part of the author's dissertation.
