Different modes of group-formation : Experimental evidence from West Slavic derived collectives
Original language description
In this paper, we present experimental evidence for different modes of group-formation in West Slavic. The experiments investigated the interaction between 3 types of derived collective nominal expressions and so-called A-different expressions in Czech and Polish. Participants were asked to judge truthfulness of examples involving bare plurals, group nouns, and distributive quantifier phrases and A-different expressions in contexts supporting strongly co-variating scenarios. The results show non-trivial semantic differences between different types of derived collectives in both languages.
