Effect of preoperative apheresis on the amount of apoptotic cells in peripheral blood of pigs during cardiopulmonary bypass

  • Original language description

Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) causes the postperfusion syndrom. The aim of our work was to show if the preoperative apheresis can lead to the decrease of apoptotic cells in blood. The presence of apoptotic cells was followed according to DNA isolated fromgranulocytes, lymfocytes and cells captured on apheretic filter. The experiment showed that apoptotic DNA was present in leucocytes of peripheral blood. However, the estimation of DNA fragmentation was negative in blood cells captured on the filter. It follows that preoperative apheresis can not markedly influence the amount of apioptotic cells in peripheral blood of pigs with CPB. Apoptosis was detected at the beginning of operation in cells of peripheral blood. The apoptotic response can be assumed inconsequence of the stress situation.
