What do teachers find challenging in introducing picture storybooks?
Original language description
This paper will first describe the educational context of teaching English as a foreign language to young learners in the Czech Republic as well as the attitudes of teachers to stories as an educational tool in primary education. In addition, reasons whystories are not very widely used in teaching English will be investigated. Analysis will be based on the results of the questionnaire survey that was carried out in the Inservice teacher training(known as Insett in the Czech Republic) seminars throughout the year 2004. In the conclusion some ways forward and the steps hat could be taken to improve the situation will be offered.
