The differences between eating habits in boys and girls form secondary schools in Brno in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Eating habits differ with gender as well. In this paper were inquired eating habits in girls and boys from secondary school in Brno in Czech Republic. The total amount of the pupils was 363. Information were obtained by anonymous questionnaire. Concerning regularity of eating breakfast, it was revealed, that 56.6% of girls and 59.4% of boys have regular breakfast. Question about frequency of eating morning snacks revealed that 89.5% of girls and 79.7% of boys consume morning snack daily (both home-made or bought in a school cafereia). Reason, why fewer boys than girls eat their morning snack might be that if nobody prepares the snack for them, boys, contrary to girls, are not willing to prepare or buy it by themselves. Concerning lunch consumption, 98.2% of girls and 96.9% of boys have lunch regularly every day (in school canteen, at home, fast food restaurant or elsewhere).
