AUXIN AND CYTOKININ INTERACTIONS IN THE ROOT GRAVITROPISM IN ARABIDOPSIS THALIANA
Original language description
Gravitropism is controlled by phytohormones. The greatest attention in recent studies has been paid to the role of auxin. Its distribution and gradient formation is regulated by membrane transporters. Auxin efflux carriers from the PIN family were shownto regulate many developmental processes associated with changes in the intercellular auxin distribution, including gravitropic response. However, in complex physiological processes such as gravitropism, the individual plant hormones do not act separately, but in mutual interactions. Auxin/cytokinin crosstalk was recently demonstrated in the de novo organogenesis, in which cytokinins affected expression of auxin efflux carriers PINs. Thus, cytokinins might cooperate with auxin in a regulation of the root gravitropic response.
