Original language description
Vitamins and minerals are necessary for the normal functioning of the body. Owing to increasing ratio of brainwork, man physical activity and feed consumption have decreased and nutrient uptake is insufficient. Many people take a multivitamin as a 'safety net' to protect them from deficiency and disease. In feed supplements, producers declare lists of components contained but do not ensure their content. For a control of technological process and evaluation of final products quality, a reliable analytical method for determination of multivitamin components is necessary. The paper deals with elemental analysis (Ca, K, Mg, Fe, P, Mn, Zn, Cu, Cr, Ni and V) of multivitamin preparations and food supplements by means ICP OES. Four procedures of sample preparation before analysis were compared: the total microwave decomposition, open wet digestion, ultrasound assisted extraction and slurry treatment. For solution and slurry analysis of these elements, methodology was elaborated. According to a
