ALKALI ACTIVATED ALUMINOSILICATE COMPOSITES AS FIRE RESISTANT MATERIALS
Original language description
Portland cement concrete is the most common and widespread material for constructions. However, its undesirable fast degradation, when exposed to very high temperature, connected with compressive strength decrease, cracking and spalling limits the utilization of concrete in constructions endangered by fire. This paper deals with the properties of alkali activated aluminosilicate materials and a possibility of their utilization as fire protection. These materials are more resistant against high temperatures, especially against shock loading, than Portland cement concrete. In the experiments we examined and compared the behaviour and properties of concrete specimens made from Portland cement and alkali activated slag after treatment at temperatures from200 to 1200 C. The influence of aggregates, comparing quartz sand and electrical porcelain, was also examined.
