Composite materials for constructions of modern power engineering systems with higher resistance to corrosive enviroment
Original language description
The paper presents knowledge found at testing of selected properties of FRP composite materials exposed to action of corrosive environment. The tested FRP profiles manufactured by means of the pultrusion process method. The profiles consisted of polyester resin used as matrix, E-glass reinforcement continuous fibers; continuous fibrous mat with random orientation of fibers was used for both inner and outer surface. Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials offer suitable solution for structures exposed to intensive action of corrosive environment. Structure of modern power engineering systems like towers of windmill generating stations, bearing poles of photovoltaic panels or service structures of water power plants are exposed to long term action of weather (sunshine, rainfall, high humidity and action of liquid corrosives). Such conditions require advanced properties of material of structures in particular with respect to high durability and minimal necessary maintenance.
