Expedient field monitoring of snow cover in the Eagle mountains
Original language description
The composition, height and density of snow cover, snow water equivalent and other parameters are important indicators of the environment, which, together with other indicators, also change due to anthropogenic activities. Although many of snow cover parameters are monitored in the long term, the interpretation and especially generalization of data is a difficult process that requires knowledge and experience from many disciplines. Currently, with the advance of technology and measurement techniques, also the method of obtaining data and their relationships (and thus metrology as well) is becoming more important in this context. Some properties of snow cover can be determined indirectly, through other variables. For monitoring snow cover in the ?Orlické hory? (Eagle Mountains), an indirect method of measuring electrical impedance ? electrical impedance spectrometry ? was used. Expedient field measurement was used as a complement to long-term monitoring.
