EVALUATION OF MODULI OF ELASTICITY FOR THIN LAYERS
Original language description
The paper extends the applicability of the measuring method related to the evaluation of moduli of elasticity for tension and compression, as presented earlier. Moduli of elasticity for thin layers (e.g. plasmatic coatings) can be evaluated by this method based upon a four-point bending test. The test is realized through a rectangular prismatic beam made of the material with known linear elastic properties. On the top and bottom sides of the beam, thin layers are applied, e.g. plasmatic coatings - the eelastic constants of which are to be determined. Strains on the surfaces of the layers are measured with electric resistance strain gauges. A mathematical theory derived enables us to determine the moduli of elasticity in tension and in compression fromthe measured strains using a system of two algebraic equations. The method described is also convenient for evaluation of moduli of elasticity for plasmatic coatings under which an inter-layer is created on the basic material provided tha
