Digital twin of fast semi-active damper for secondary suspension of railway vehicle bogie
Original language description
The subject is an original diagnostic methodology that works on the principle of comparing the transmission of vibrations from unsprung mass to sprung mass at a specific wheel of a real vehicle with the transmission in a simulation model for this wheel (digital twin). Both kinematically excited systems (real and sim) work with identical excitation, continuously sensed while driving on the vehicle by an accelerometer. If both transmissions are approximately identical, it is a fault-free state, otherwise a fault state. Two categories of problem solutions can then follow. Only a small deviation can be registered, given, for example, by a change in the magnetic properties of the electromagnetic system of the magnetorheological damper, which can be autonomously corrected by the control unit by selecting a more suitable force characteristic. The second possibility is that the limit for a large deviation is exceeded, and here it will be necessary to pass information to the superior diagnostic system of the entire vehicle. The application goal of the project was to describe the digital twin of the semi-active magnetorheological damper – the vertical secondary damper of the Škoda InterPanter 10Ev unit. The digital twin contains a virtual model of the semi-active system (MR damper, silent blocks, control unit and software, railway car model), and will be used to monitor the technical condition of the suspension and solve any problems. The digital twin predicts the transmission of vibrations from the chassis to the body, and if the measured body vibration differs significantly from the forecast, damping correction will be triggered.
