Curve Encoding and Detection of Discontinuities Using Continous Wavelet Transform
Original language description
This paper concerns with lossy coding of plane curves using continuous wavelet transform. Three main steps are presented here. First, discontinuities (dominant points) of the curve are detected using continuous wavelet transform. Secondly, the detect eddominant points are modified and interpolated with piecewise splines. Finally, Huffman coding is applied to the spline data to further increase the coding efficiency. The described method is invariant under geometric transformations and it is suit able for open and closed curves.
